FAQs about Cars for Sale by Owner

How does KarKiosk’s Bill of Sale service work? toggle

Select your state, enter the vehicle, buyer, seller and sale details, then complete identity verification and digital signing. Once both parties have signed, each receives a completed PDF packet.

How much does it cost, and what is included? toggle

The service costs $39.99 per transaction, with no subscription. It includes a state-specific Bill of Sale, buyer and seller verification, digital signatures, a transaction ID, QR verification and completed PDF copies for both parties.

What information do I need to create a Bill of Sale? toggle

You’ll need the vehicle’s VIN, year, make, model and mileage, plus the buyer’s and seller’s names and addresses. Have the purchase price, sale date, payment details and any agreed sale terms ready.

Can both parties sign online and receive a copy? toggle

Yes. Both the buyer and seller can review and digitally sign the document online. Once signing is complete, both receive a downloadable PDF packet to keep for their records.

Does this replace the vehicle title or complete the title transfer? toggle

No. The Bill of Sale records the transaction and agreed terms. It is not a substitute for the certificate of title. You must still complete your state’s title-transfer and registration requirements.

Does my Bill of Sale need to be notarized? toggle

Notarization requirements vary by state and transaction. Check the applicable state requirements before signing. KarKiosk’s identity verification and digital signatures do not replace notarization when it is required.
