The Certificate of Title is the most important document for the sale. In the "Assignment and Warranty of Title by Seller" section on the back, you must:
Enter the buyer's full name and address.
Record the current odometer reading (without decimals).
State the date of sale.
Enter the purchase price.
Sign and print your name exactly as it appears on the front of the title.
Do not use white-out or make alterations, as this will void the title. If you make a mistake, you will need to apply for a replacement title.

No. Private sellers do not collect sales tax. Georgia has a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) that the buyer is responsible for paying. The buyer will pay this tax directly to their local County Tag Office when they register the vehicle in their name. The TAVT is calculated based on the vehicle's fair market value.
While the signed title legally transfers ownership, a Bill of Sale is highly recommended. You should complete Form T-7 (Bill of Sale), which documents the vehicle's details, the selling price, and the date of sale. Both you and the buyer should sign it.
