To transfer ownership, you must complete the "Assignment of Title" section on the back of your Certificate of Title. You need to:
Enter the buyer's full legal name and address.
Fill in the exact odometer reading.
Enter the date of the sale.
Sign your name exactly as it appears on the front of the title.
Crucially, your signature must be notarized. Do not sign the title until you are in the presence of a notary public. Signing it beforehand will void the notarization requirement and complicate the sale.
